Smoke Detector Program
Smoke Detectors Save Lives!
Working smoke detectors provide an early warning of a fire, giving you and your family time to escape safely.
The Sun City Fire and Medical Department no longer provides smoke detector installation, replacement, or battery replacement services.
If you need assistance:
- Battery-operated smoke detectors or battery replacement: Contact a qualified handyman or contractor.
- Hardwired smoke detectors connected to your home’s electrical system: Contact a licensed electrical contractor.
The Sun City Homeowners Association (SCHOA) has resources to help residents locate a handyman or contractor through its Business Partner Referral Program. The referral list is available to SCHOA members. Call 623-974-4718 for more information.
The American Red Cross also offers smoke detector resources, including free battery-operated smoke alarms and installation for qualifying households, subject to available resources. Visit the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign page to learn more and request assistance.
Keeping your smoke detectors working is an important part of protecting your home and family. Please arrange any needed service directly with the appropriate professional or organization.
